Summary
Several years after the Battle of Endor, a civil war is raging in the galaxy as Imperials have regain strength. During a raid on Imperial City, Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian crash land on the surface.
Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and the droids come to their aid amidst a brutal fire fight. Luke arrives and dispatches their attackers with the Force. He tells them that the Dark Side is very strong on the planet and he must remain behind to fight it. The others leave just as a Luke and R2 are engulfed in a Dark Side storm.

Rebel leader Mon Mothra receives word that a Dark Side force is unifying the feuding Imperial sides. The Millennium Falcon arrives with the survivors and informs the Rebel leaders of Luke's fate. The Alliance leaders tell them of a huge war fleet of World Devastators appearing. Mon Calamari are fleeing their home world as the Devastators lay waste to the planet. The Alliance goes to assist.
Meanwhile, a captive Luke is taken to a planet where he meets the Emperor, alive and well!. The Emperor tells him he is a clone and that his Dark Side energy merely passes from one body to the next as it decays. He again asks Luke to take Vader's place. Luke decided that the only way to defeat the Dark Side is to learn its secrets and so he decides to accept the Emperor's offer!
Leia senses that Luke is in grave danger.

The counter attack at Calamari doesn't go as planned for the Alliance and they are overwhelmed by the might of the Devastators and other new Imperial ships.
Luke appears to Leia and tells her not to interfere. She is overcome with grief. She tells Han that they must go after him or all will be lost. They travel to Nar Shadda to get some help from Han's smuggling friends, Ninx and Salla, with finding a ship that can travel deep into Imperial territory.
They visit Han's old apartment. Along the way Leia encounters a lost Jedi who gives her a gift. As the enter the apartment, Han's droid announces the presence of a Mr. Fett.

Boba Fett and associates chase Han and Leia, but they return to the awaiting ship safely. Leia opens the gift from the old Jedi reveals a lightsaber! She has a vision of Luke commanding Imperial ships.
When all seems lost on Calamari, New Republic reinforcements arrive and rescue the escape pods. Suddenly, several Imperial ships begin to mysteriously self destruct!
Han and Leia successfully land on the Emperor's throne world of Byss. They allow themselves to be captured and taken before Luke and the Emperor. Han and Leia unsuccessfully attack them and she is injured.

Ninx and Salla are discovered as the await Han's rescue signal.
The Emperor shows Leia a Jedi Holocron that warns against learning the Dark Side from within. He tells her that he can take over any form he wants, even her unborn child! She flees and takes the Holocron with her.
Leia finds Luke who tells her he has hidden the Emperor's plans inside R2. She is still unsure of his motives, but they leave to rescue Han.
Ninx and Salla rescue Han and Chewie just as Luke and Leia arrive. The group escapes just in time only to learn that Luke is not actually on board, but has used a Dark Side trick and he is actually still on Byss.
Luke confronts the Emperor as he prepares to move into a younger clone. Luke tries to prevent this but is unable to as the newly reborn Emperor bests him in battle.

The codes inside R2 paralyze the World Devastators on Calamari and the troops rush in to destroy them. The ships manufacturing efforts continue and the new ships begin attacking the Rebel forces. R2 devises new code that again turns the tide of battle and destroys the World Devastators! Unfortunately they also learn of the Emperor's grand plan to takeover the galaxy.
Using the Holocron, Leia learns of a prophecy that her time has come to save the galaxy. The Emperor's fleet arrives and demands the return of the Holocron and Leia herself. She willingly goes to fulfill her destiny.
The Emperor is furious that she did not bring the Holocron with her and commands Luke to bring her to the Dark Side. Leia pleads with to remember the mistakes of their father. Luke comes to realize that he does not wish to share Vader's fate and attacks the Emperor. As the Emperor unleashes another Dark Side storm upon the Rebel fleet, Luke and Leia join their powers together and create a wave of Light that catches the Emperor by surprise and causes the storm to turn against its creator! Brother and sister barely escape as the Emperor is destroyed.
