Summary

A schism is forming among the Jedi. Several masters have banded together and are refusing to lead armies during the Clone Wars. The group is willing to meet with Mace Windu for discussions on the matter.

Count Dooku learns of the meeting and sends Asajj Ventress to intervene and bring the dissident Jedi to his side.

Mace meets with Master Bulq, a respected Jedi Instructor, who says he left because he was unsure about whether the Republic is worth saving. Master K'Kruhk tells him that leading Clones to their deaths is the opposite of all Jedi teachings about preserving life. Most believe diplomacy should rule, while a younger Jedi, Rhad, believes the corruption is so deep that the Jedi should join the Confederacy.

After the group retires, Ventress arrives and attacks Bulq. She kills one of the padawans and then claims to be working for Mace!

Rhad tracks Ventress down and they battle. She attempts to turn him to the Dark Side as others arrive to intervene.

Mace returns to Bulq and it is revealed the Bulq has turned to the Dark Side! The two battle, but Mace disarms him and goes off to help the others. Knowing she is no match for him, Asajj flees the fight. Mace tells the others of the Bulq's treachery and they all return to his ship.

Mace agrees to let the survivors do as the wish. Some say they will help return others to the temple, but some stand by their beliefs and will not fight. Mace agrees provided it does not lead them to the Dark Side.

Comments

One of all time favorite issues. Deals with the internal struggle that many fans talk about but isn't really addressed in the films.

Awesome fighting and teaching lesson with Quinlan Vos and Mace. Really all of Mace's interaction with the other Jedi was spot on and helped bring out more of his personality.

The addition of Asajj was also welcome.

Overall, great action sequences and a twist ending I didn't expect.
