Summary

On the Imperial occupied planet of Jabiim, a Rebel Alliance engineer named Jorin Sol has been captured by Darth Vader. He was supposed to be joined by Luke Skywalker. A Jabiim native named Tal Hesz double crossed Jorin and chose a path that would not end well.

Jabiim was once abandoned by the Republic during the Clone Wars after a battle involving Anakin Skywalker. When Luke went to persuade them to join the Rebellion the Skywalker name did little to help his cause.

Because of Hesz' treachery, Vader tortured Sol and learned navigation secrets of the Rebellion, Jabiim citizens were being sold into slavery, and his home world was being ravaged.

As he was being transported offworld, his inner conscience got the best of him and he kills all the Imperials on the shuttle and jumps to hyperspace.

He begins searching the underworlds for Jorin Sol and his fellow Jabiimi. Eventually he learns they have been taken to Kalist VI. As he arrives there, the Rebellion are already attacking the Imperial base.

Inside he witnesses the reunion of Luke and his childhood friend Tank that ends with Luke deflect a blaster bolt back into Tank. Tank had become and Imperial officer. Jorin Sol, however, was rescued, but Hesz was captured.

Jorin was now safe, but perhaps, his role in the fate of the Rebellion was still to be played out.

Comments

I wasn't particularly looking forward to this series, but this introductory issue actually got me hooked. The surprise ending did the trick. I guess this set up worked since I'm looking forward to seeing where this all leads.

The artwork and story were perfectly matched and I hope the series continues in this same way.
